OVER 20+ YEARS OF SHE SPEAKS

IT ALL BEGAN WITH A PROMISE MADE TO GOD.

A LETTER FROM LYSA

Do you ever wish that someone cared enough about your ministry dreams to remove the mystery, disclose the best practices, and give you the most helpful tools they could think of?

This is why we started She Speaks Conference.

I very much remember a time when my goals seemed like such unrealistic dreams meant for people more capable than me, more connected than me, more trained than me, and way more lucky than me. All I had was a love for the Bible and a desire to help others.

I knew God had called me, but I was clueless about how to make any progress. I vowed to myself that if I ever figured any of this out, I would absolutely do anything I could to help others coming behind me.

That’s where She Speaks comes in. She Speaks is my promise kept to God to come alongside other women, year after year, who know they want to use their gifts but feel like they don’t know much else.

No matter where you are on your journey, we want to help you find your way forward at She Speaks.

A LOOK BACK

2001 – 2024

2001

Our first conference for writers and speakers was held in Charlotte, NC, with a small team from Proverbs 31 Ministries.

2007

We brought in special speakers to help empower women who write, lead, speak, and have influence in their ministries, homes, and communities.

2011

She Speaks staff kicked off the 12th annual event with a choreographed dance!

2013

Our small but mighty crew loaded up conference supplies, decor and more in preparation for She Speaks.

2014

We celebrated the release of Lysa TerKeurst’s book The Best Yes! with She Speaks attendees and prayed over all of the requests on the prayer wall.

2015

Over 700 women joined us in person during a main session with our Chief Visionary Officer, Lysa TerKeurst.

2016

We offered 674 appointments for attendees to meet with publishers and literary agents. Many attendees signed book deals and are now published authors because of the connections they made at She Speaks.

2017

We created space for attendees to network between sessions because making new friends at She Speaks is a perk!

2019

Lysa TerKeurst interviewed author and podcaster Jamie Ivey during a main session.

2020

Eleven weeks before She Speaks, we had to shift and reimagine a brand-new online-only conference due to COVID-19. This allowed women all over the world, who could have never attended in person, to get the She Speaks experience from the comfort of their own home.

2021

Although She Speaks remained an online event, we saw over 2,000 women from around the world worship with us through a screen.

2022

After two years of an online conference, She Speaks returned as a half-capacity, in-person and online event! Attendees leaned in during a special workshop with Lysa TerKeurst and Meredith Brock.

2023

In 2023, She Speaks remained an in-person and online event, upping the number of in-person attendees. This included a special, guided prayer time for all attendees.

We hosted our first-ever food truck meals so attendees could eat together in a fun, new way!

2024

Lysa TerKeurst shared a message to kick off the event, reminding all attendees that we can take God at His word.
