At She Speaks Online, our Interactive Experience Pass purchasers will have the opportunity to connect with agents and acquisition editors from major publishing houses to pitch their book ideas on a first-come, first-serve basis. These opportunities are limited and require additional preparation. The purpose of connecting with a publisher or agent is to present a well-formulated book idea with either a verbal pitch, a one-sheet or a full book proposal.
The publishers and agents will receive your book pitch in several ways. Some will offer an opportunity for a live video meeting, while some may review your one-sheet or proposal via online submission.
For those taking part in a video meeting, please be aware that some of these connection time slots will be scheduled during a live event and you may miss part of a workshop. Not all connection slots will occur during the She Speaks Online live event; some will be offered before or after. You will be able to view all available connection time slots in advance of your selection.
Webinar Training
If you are a first-time attendee, we recommend signing up for our optional (and at an additional price) pre-conference training webinar led by Glynnis Whitwer and Karen Ehman. We offer training on how to prepare an elevator pitch for your virtual meeting and write a one-sheet and book proposal.
This is a recorded teaching. You can read more and purchase access to the webinars through our bookstore by clicking here.
She Speaks draws acquisition editors from the top Christian publishers and agents around. The list of confirmed publishers is below. We will send you detailed information about each publisher in an email to prepare you for making your choice. This will include the types of books they are accepting and what they are not accepting.
Publisher connections are available to our Interactive Experience Pass purchasers on a first-come, first-serve basis. We have a limited number of connection slots available, so don’t wait to register and save your spot!
We will open the selection process in early July. Once you have completed your Interactive Experience Pass registration you will receive more information and the exact date.
We will be able to offer one connection per person. Before making your selection, we recommend you identify your top five choices in case your first choices are full.
You should prepare a complete book proposal. This document may or may not be requested depending on the preference of the publisher, but the process of preparing one will set you up for success in your book pitch.
No. We recommend creating one standard proposal to hand out at your appointments and bring extra copies in case you have an opportunity to meet with other publishing guests.
If this is your first time preparing a book proposal, we suggest you research what is included in a fiction and nonfiction proposal.
It is possible you will miss a portion of a main session or workshop if you select a publisher connection that happens via live video conference during the event itself. If that happens, you’ll be able to watch the recording until April 2021.
If you have any questions, please contact us at shespeaks@proverbs31.org.
May God direct and bless your preparations.
